Starting in 1988, Sublime were one of the most popular and influential bands of 90s ska punk. What could also be described as reggae rock, the bands sound featured an intuitive blend of punk rock and hardcore punk with hip hop, heavy metal, dancehall, reggae, ska, funk, and surf music. Their 2021 RSD release “Meets Scientist & Mad Professor” is features six classics newly remixed by legendary dub pioneers Scientist and Mad Professor.
The featured remixers of “Meets Scientist & Mad Professor” lend the songs massive dub sounds in their works. Regarded as one of the originators of dub music Side A’s remixer, The Scientist burst onto the reggae scene in the mid ’70s with a reckless mixing style that took crowds everywhere by surprise. The B-Side remixer, Mad Professor, entered the scene during dubs second generation and was recognised for transitioning dub into the digital age.
The artwork featured is by the iconic Tony McDermott whose art has graced some of the most classic dub albums of all-time.
